Accessing Outside School Counselling:
- It’s always good to start with an appointment with your family GP, sometimes regular blood work is done to eliminate any medical conditions and also they can refer to psychiatrists if needed
- Look into your extended medical plan to find out if you have access to the Employee Assistance Program, you can phone your medical provider and they will give you a list of local counsellors that can be used under your plan
- The Youth Wellness Centre at the Greg Moore Youth Centre: free drop in on Thursdays between 4pm-6pm. There is a doctor, counsellor and youth advocate on site that you can see at that time. (free) Check out the schedule here: http://youthwellness.ca/about/drop-in-hours-schedule/

Helps family reduce the intensity of conflict, identify and address the issues, and support both the youth and parents as they explore solutions. Parents and/or youth meet weekly with program staff (more frequently if conflict is severe) up to a maximum of eight sessions. Additional sessions can be sometimes be arranged under certain circumstances.

Alisa's Wish Child & Youth Advocacy Centre, a program of Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services, helps all children and youth in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Katzie First Nation who have experienced or witnessed physical, emotional or sexual abuse.
